Pregnancy Resource Services
We
provide a free, self-administered pregnancy test and consultation by
trained volunteers for women and their partners. This consultation
includes, when appropriate, information about sexually transmitted
diseases (STDs), fetal development, pregnancy options, and abortion
procedures. We also make appointments for medical diagnosis of
pregnancy, PCAP, and free sonograms. As well we will help make
arrangements for other social and legal services when necessary. For
those who choose to continue their pregnancies we offer ongoing support
through our other programs. This service is offered in both English and
Spanish.
Material Assistance
We supply expectant mothers with a layette which includes essential items
for their newborn. We also provide expectant mothers with a crib and
car seat if needed. We also offer clothing, disposable diapers,
formula, baby food, and other baby items through the child’s first year
through our incentive system. This system gives credit to the women for
their participation in the parenting classes in the form of “Mommy
Money”. After each class we open our Mommy Store where the women use
their credit to pick out the supplies they need for their baby.
Counseling Services
We
offer professional counseling at our center free of charge for up to
one year. We also offer referrals for expectant and new mothers who
seek long term therapy and help cover costs for those cases involving
abuse. At our center we also have a mothers’ support group that meets
twice a month.

Parenting Classes
We
provide pre-natal and parenting classes in both English and Spanish.
The pre-natal class covers such topics as nutrition, doctors’
appointments, the changing body, fetal development, delivery, and new
born care. The parenting class covers the topics of baby’s health,
communication, safety, discipline, early literacy, and quality child
care. Using the incentive system involving extra credit for coming on
time, we have had good attendance in these classes.
Employment Training

We have computer classes for the mothers that provide them with the basic typing and word processing skills. For Spanish-speaking mothers we have English class that gives them the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary.
